Cars - nope not the movie... though my kids love that movie.  My ranting today is about cars.  Buyer beware when you purchase a new car, what does this have to do with real estate you ask?  A car loan is the biggest red flag I've come across when a client is looking to get preapproved for a mortgage.  Car loans are not looked upon very highly and can really do a number on your debt ratios.   So when you consider purchasing a car, I'd highly recommend saving up (which I know seems like a foreign ... With all the media hype about the Sovereign Debt crisis and words like "contagion", the PIGS countries, etc what does all that mean? Where're do you invest? Houses, gold, agriculture? This morning I was apart of an educational event put on by my office and one of the featured speakers was Ben Chan from Scarborough, ON with ScotiaMcLeod. He talked about where the economy is at, will go. Investments he suggested included energy and agriculture which puts Edmonton in a good position. This is great news for those of us who live in Edmonton and considering moving to Edmonton. In regards to Real Estate the industry is forecasted to stay steady through the years. We had a great successful night tonight.  I forgot to take a video clip of the evening but next time I will remember so then I can post it!  We got to learn about the new trends for kitchen and bath, see samples and work - lots of fun! Edmonton, January 5, 2011: The average price for a single family detached home in December was $355,270, down about $10,000 as compared to the price in November. The average condo price dropped less than $6,000 to $223,454. The marginal price reduction (down 0.45%) continued a SFD slide that started in June when average prices were over $390,000.
