The Government of Canada is changing the mortgage rules again...these new rules will come into effect for March 18, 2011.
Here's a quick summary: (taken from press release from www.fin.gc.ca)
The new measures:
1) Reduce the maximum amortization period to 30 years from 35 years for new government-backed insured mortgages with loan-to-value ratios of more than 80 per cent. This will significantly reduce the total interest payments Canadian families make on their mortgages, allow Canadian families ...

Tidbit #1 from the seminar - INTEREST RATES will inevitably be increasing in spring/summer of 2011 and they will only go up more in 2012....what does this mean? Time to buy sooner than later and talk to your mortgage broker about your mortgage. Tidbit #2 will be coming soon...
